What kind of experiences do others have with this technique? Today after work I tried to stay awake on the couch and tried the dropping technique just for fun. I fell asleep twice in four minutes, lol. I can’t try the technique at night the way it’s described because my partner would most certainly wake up when an object bumped into the floor. I began to wonder if this could work by tying some relatively heavy but not so loud object to the end of a string so that it wouldn’t hit the ground when it dropped, but would pull the string. I would then loosely tie the other end of the string for example around my wrist, where blood circulation is not blocked so easily because of an object of that weight (by no means around a finger so that blood circulation does not stop from the finger!). I’m going to try this as long as I come up with a safe way to tie the string to my arm. I wonder if it would work if I tied a string around the wristband of my watch, in which case it would not affect the blood circulation in the wrist in any way. Basically, this could work as well as the original technique, and if it works, then it would be suitable for people other than those sleeping alone. I was just wondering how to sleep when an object hangs on your wrist all night... :D

I finally figured out how to do this! I have a 200g metal ball. I take the ball in my hand and then put my hand in a sock. The ball drops inside the sock as I fall asleep and jerks my arm. This way, the ball doesn't hit the floor when it drops and blood circulation is not blocked in the hand. Must try this tonight!
