I've started the process of shifting my sleep cycle to earlier in the night, going to sleep earlier so I can have more time in the morning to nap and have lucid dreams.
Does anyone know is there such a thing as the opposite of REM rebound because I feel like my recall is getting worse and it's getting harder to have lucid dreams again. I try to nap in the afternoon but my dreams are very short even if I do get lucid. I go in and out of consciousness for the last 3 or 4 hours but barely remember anything.
When I settle into the new cycle will I get longer rem periods in the morning again? I was sleeping irregularly before but I feel like I was having more vivid dreams and more LDs. I don't want to mess things up just as I was starting to make progress.
Hmm, hard to say. It could be that you just need time to settle into a new rhythm, or it could even be a coincidence. Sometimes dream recall, like lucid dreams themselves, will have ups and downs. Other factors such as stress can cause changes as well. I wouldn't be surprised to find a temporary upheaval in behavior if I were suddenly switching to different sleep/wake times, but as long as you continue to get about the same amount of sleep overall as before and the new routine is kept consistent it will probably be okay eventually.
