Hey guys, I don't like to ask vague question that can just be googled, but like my other questions, I've done research over the months and am hoping that you can help me separate the wheat from the chaff.
Last night, I achieved my first every WILD, which I am over the moon with as typically I have only been able to DILD. I however woke up within maybe a few minutes. Fortunately, I was able to bring myself back into another five or six short lucid dreams, but they were all shorter. It might be that I'm not lucid dreaming quite often enough and get too excited, although generally I've practiced remaining calm, so I'm not sure that's the problem.
I've read that within a dream, spinning in a circle, rubbing ones hands and touching the ground all contribute to dream stability. I also understand that telling oneself at the start of a dream that they are committed to staying in the dream can help to improve stability.
Outside of a dream, I understand that practicing daily meditation, Ideally before bed helps. I must admit, this isn't something I do often enough, so perhaps this is the missing link.
In any case, if any of you guys can help me to muddle through this, I would be super appreciative <3
Kindest regards
Dave
Firstly, I became lucid within a regular dream, in which I happened to be in a busy shopping centre and was generally speaking much like a regular lucid dream. Upon waking up, I tried not to move and focused my thoughts on returning to the dream whilst watching the hypnagogic patterns. Each time I appeared in a new dream, although was immediately lucid. I'm fairly sure that I had been sleeping for around 8 hours. As I have a lot of time off right now, I've found myself sleeping for up to 10 hours, generally in hopes of chasing lucidity within my dreams.
Usually when I lucid dream, I like to experiment with dream control, which I've gotten modestly good at. I've found that when I try to push the boundaries of dream control, I usually wake up. Everything goes kind of black and I get the sense that the dream is ending. In this case, I was able to return myself to the dreams each time. I have to admit, I did kind of have to pee, which may very well have been why I kept waking up, but as it was the first time I'd achieved WILD, I stubbornly ignored it.
That situation aside, I usually find I'm lucid for what seems like anywhere between 2 and 10 minutes. It may be that I'm just moving into Non-Rem 1 and as a result am losing lucidity. As I'm relatively new to lucid dreaming, I imagine it takes a while for me to become aware of my dream state.
Also, thanks for all the information sources! I'll be sure to review those right now : )
