I can‘t really say much about this, for obvious reasons, but does anybody have a good tip for getting rid of bad expectations in lucid dreaming? Is it different for everyone , or does some skill work in general? Weird expectations can certainly be harmful because they get in the way of lucid dreaming, and most of them are really just nonsense. Anyway, my best guess is to identify your expectation, and change your mindset towards them. Again, any information on expectations within the dream relating to dream abilities, including senses, control over the dream, and dream length would be appreciated. To clarify, this is about expectations that one has while dreaming, and I guess subconsciously while awake.

One such expectation is, for me, that I have come to expect that I cannot fly in my lucids, because I had a few lucids where the best I managed was to float pretty close to the ground. I know that this is nonsense, because there is really no reason why I should NOT be able to fly, but it's hard to break away from! I'm trying to train myself to remember to use the spell "Ascendio" from Harry Potter to propel myself into the air, because that would veer away from the usual situation.
