Hi,
Quick survey if I may...
Have you ever seen your hands in full focus (as in your palms right in front of you in the centre of your field of vision) in a non lucid dream and that did NOT result in you becoming lucid (or waking up)?
In my experience, it is not possible (and I have a theory about why) but want to know if it applies to others.
Thanks,
Isaac
Hi, Isaac, and welcome to the forum! Good to have you here 😊
To answer your question right away: Yes, this has happened to me several times (in fact, the only time I can recall where there was something strange about my hands was when I looked at them during a dream in which I was already lucid and fully aware that I was dreaming -- that time, both my hands had additional digits).
This is one reason why I don't at all trust the "finger induced lucid dream technique". As Daniel Love of Lucid Dream Portal says in his book Are You Dreaming?, our hands are in our field of vision for so much of time we spend awake that it's not really surprising that our sleeping mind is often capable of creating a very realistic replica of them.
For anyone who may be new and reading this at a later time: I'll include a couple of links where this is covered, in case someone finds that helpful 😊

@StumpedSlicken thanks for the reply. So just to verify - you saw "your" hands right in front of your face and then carried on with the dream. Correct?
Hello there! I don't know if this answers your question, but I've had non-lucid dreams where I look at my hands and remain non-lucid. Granted, my hands did have more fingers than my normal 5 on each hand, but, I still remained non-lucid. This has happened on at least two accounts for me.
I hope this answers your question and that others reply to this post as well!
