Hey folks, as I mentioned in the last stream, I experienced my first WILD and here’s the hows and whats!
so I’m using the DreamyQ device/app you’ve probably heard of in the forum which triggered a WBTB after 5 hours of sleep. I lay in bed for a few minutes, making sure I didn’t fall back asleep. I then got up to use the bathroom, performing a good solid reality check, for me I did a nose pinch and checked my surroundings. I made sure I woke myself a little with some deep breaths before returning to bed after a couple of minutes.
I used the app to trigger the SSILD protocol which gives me audio triggers for the visual, audio and tactile ‘focuses’ for the technique. This goes on for a few minutes before you fall asleep, I went through all of them before drifting off. Soon after I became aware whilst lying on my front, with my right arm up by my head that I could close my hand but it felt like I had a soft foam ball in it, it felt too soft to be my pillow and I focused on repeating the ‘squash’. Very soon I felt a buzzing or rushing in my left leg which spread to my whole body, I realised what was happening and tried to remain calm. The feeling subsided and so I went back to focusing on my hand again and the whole pro repeated but this time I ‘lifted out of my body’, seeing both myself and my partner lying in bed about 20feet below me (my ceilings aren’t that high!) but it was very dark and hard to see. I was thinking how easy it must be for people to believe in actual OBEs after experiencing this. I recalled members and Daniel talking of low light lucid dreams so I tried to will more light but all I got was some light in my peripheral like with a sleep mask in daylight (I was wearing one). I then shifted to flying through the night towards a large town as I could see the lights, I saw a large moon and remembered the capture the flag game to reach the moon but quickly realised I didn’t have the flying power today to reach it. I shifted again to a residential area of my old town in bright sunshine, stood on the ground. I took in my surroundings before thinking about meeting some friends and then I lost consciousness. The shifts didn’t feel as if I deliberately caused them, more a subconscious move. so there you go, folks. Very encouraging.
I also had a short WILD with the device last week. I have a lot of micro awakenings even within a REM phase. I was awake and for the next second in a lucid dream flying through my childhood home. When I got to a wall and tried to fly through it, the dream burst like a soap bubble. In the next moment I was awake again and heard the signal that REM confirmed to me. Short but cool
Edit (7:00 am): I managed to accidentally wipe my original post when I tried to edit it and report the results... Reality check time... Here's the original comment as I remember it:
Great job Dan! Personally, I haven't yet managed to induce a WILD but today would be a good time to try it. I woke up half an hour ago and as writing this, the clock is 5:15 am. Based on my research on my sleep cycle which I have now done for a couple of weeks with the Cycle Adjustment Technique, my next REM cycle starts at 5:45-6:00 am. Wish me luck!
Edit (5:30 am): Also, my wife went to the couch to sleep earlier because I snored. So the whole bed is mine for this attempt!
Edit (6:50 am): Drifted to a non-lucid dream so no luck for me this time. Fortunately, there is always the next time!
That's fantastic, congrats!
I asked the guys at enchanted dream a question about my LD and they posted my LD on Instagram:

It is! My current goals are:
- more lucid dreams, obv. 🙂
- better dream recall - working on it, but I was dismayed that since I got distracted when I woke, that the details of my lucid dream were gone! So yes, you can forget even lucid dreams!
- to hold on to lucidity better - in my recent lucids I’ve been thrilled to find myself lucid, decide to just “explore the dream” and my awareness fades it back to a normal dream. My plan going forward - cautious exploration - keep reminding myself I’m in a lucid dream as I slowly explore what’s going on… - EDIT oh and have another WILD, only managed one once from an afternoon nap…
Any lucidity is great eh? Nice one 👍
Very cool! Congrats again! I tried a wild last night again with “the device” and ended up with the consolation prize - as I’ve done a handful of times in the past now, I go from a failed wild, give up, roll over and go to sleep, then end up having a lucid, from the inspiration and focus from the attempt 🙂
