I woke up randomly in the night, for about 15 minutes, then I went to sleep normally (without thinking about lucid dreaming) and was literally “shot” into a dream as I was drifting off to sleep.
The weird thing about this is that there were no prior hallucinations or anything that could’ve been a sign that I was even in REM.
If anyone has any tips or has experienced this, please comment below.
Update: Something similar happened to me last night, although not entirely to the same extent.
Went to bed around 11pm, woke up naturally at 3am, but couldn't fall back to sleep, like I normally can (I was out drinking prior to this, wonder how that affected anything). Stayed up for an hour. I then attempted to sleep again, with no lucid dreaming techniques in mind, I just wanted to sleep. But perhaps this was an accidental sleep disruption or wake-back-to-bed.
Once I finally got back to sleep, I don't even remember how I found myself in this state, or if I passed out first or woke up in it. I noticed I had a weird sensation in bed where I heard these auditory hallucinations of vibrating or "wooshing" sounds, and felt bodily vibrations, along with slight "pins and needles". Felt almost like my "dream body" was trying to peel away out of my real body. It felt almost like my arms were floating out of my real arms. I kind of stopped this by accident, as I was pretty groggy. I did not try to induce this experience, but I figured it could be a good time to attempt a WILD, or better yet let this state naturally send me into a dream. But I then zoned out and I think I fell asleep. I don't know when, but I found myself in my bathroom (dreaming, not sure if I transitioned right there, or fell asleep and had a new dream). In the bathroom I was very short, and could not reach the faucets of the sink and could not see into the mirror as my head only reached the top surface of the sink. I THINK I did nose pinch test and could breathe...or, just assumed I was dreaming. I turned to the window and for the briefest of moments I was lucid at a very low level and went to jump out of it. I knew it was closed but I phased through the window up to my shoulders and chest level. Or maybe imagined this. Then I woke up. Interesting experience.
Those are the best kind of WILDs! There's no mistaking that kind of hallucination for something happening to your physical body unlike some of the other ones where it seems like someone comes into your room that could have actually come into your room. Plus it is doing the work for you, making it much easier to hold onto awareness into, and within, the void after a "wild" experience like that! I am not sure how to induce that. I'm thinking that expecting a crazy transition would help.
I have not had it happen very often so I would love to hear if anyone knows how to induce this type of WILD entry!
Yes, I was “shot” into some black void area, where the lucid dream then started to form. I’ll attempt to experiment with it and let you all know, then.
You see, I’ve actually attempted WILDs many times before, but I’d always never be able to go back to sleep; However, a dumb thing I may have done was only attempt it during “natural” awakenings instead of methods that interrupt REM. Even so, I’d just like to know how I can go about it because I am pretty confused on how it all happened. 😂
Thanks!
Sounds like you had a spontaneous WILD! Wow, I have never even had a WILD that I tried for haha. The only time I have heard of something like this is when Daniel said he gave up a WILD attempt after a half-hour, rolled over and "rolled into a dream". And even that, he was trying at first, You weren't! Not everyone experiences hallucinations prior to WILDs, so don't worry about that part. (This was a lucid dream you were shot into, correct?)
But because this happened literally by accident, WILD induction techniques may be worth looking into for you, maybe it comes naturally. Experiment and let us know how you get on!
