So I thought it would be a fun idea for everyone who would be interested to share their favorite dream, be it lucid or non-lucid. Or both! (Feel free to come back and share additional dreams, too. It would be awesome if this thread keeps on going.) If it is too hard to pick just one favorite, chose a particular dream of interest.
This thread serves to entertain, inspire, and share with others. You could use whatever format you want, be it a direct translation from your dream journal, a slight re-write to make it more suitable as more of a story if you want, or more a summary / recap. Anything!
Share pictures if you are an artist (or ones that remind you of the dream from Google, or photos you've taken), videos or songs or sounds that remind you of it if you want, anything, be creative! You could even share your given lucid dreaming technique, day or night conditions, if it was spontaneous, etc. It can be fun to immerse yourself in the stories of others' worlds and experiences, and perhaps these reports can inspire you to implement that extra bit of effort into your lucid dreaming practice. I'll start with a favorite of mine in a comment below. Can't wait to see what everyone posts!
This dream took place in March of 2019, I don't really have a favorite dream because there have been so many, in this one it's what happened at the end that was amazing, a beautiful huge full moon and Captain Hooks ship coming towards me as it crosses the moon and the ship is gold because of the fairy dust. I know as I am watching this that hook himself is Flying the ship and I am excited because I love Captain Hook! Sadly I woke up but wow just wow it looked like something straight out of the Disney movie except not a cartoon.
This is my first WILD experience (precisely) :
I did the Dreamwalker technique, lost consciousness for what seemed like a few seconds but realized later while analyzing the data that it was more around 40 minutes lol. I came back to myself feeling uncomfortable so I decided to roll over but this time, I really concentrated to remain conscious and almost instantly, I had this sensation where I could feel my brain shutting down (hard to describe). I felt stuck in this transition phase so I decided to get out of bed (mentally). It actually worked, I fall out of bed and I am now in a dream.
I do a reality check to prove it and count my fingers but the dream is actually so vivid that I have 5 fingers XD (the little one is a bit blurry though), do it again, still 5. Then I try to go with a finger through my palm and it doesn't work so I really start to doubt whether I am really asleep but the nose pinch test works so I know for sure I am asleep. I feel this extreme vividness and clarity of mind, everything feels so real that I have the impression of being my dreaming me in the real world. I am still sitting on the ground and the window is open in front of me, I can see myself in it. I don't really recall my face but I remember telling to myself "wow that's accurate". The sun shines and it seems to be the afternoon. I walk to get out of my room, grab the handle (feel it) and open the door. Everybody in the house is still asleep but I can read on the clock (digital -> is working) 16:24 which is 4.26 pm for americans. I tell myself that it is highly incoherent. I see on the dining table rests of food of the previous day (Lebanese food), it seems very tasty. Everything is calm and shiny (because of the sun) and the dining room door's curtains are floating because a light breeze is blowing. Their texture is silky white (which isn't irl). I then go to the bathroom and see myself in the mirror, I actually look like myself, I only have shorter hair and I only wear a short (shirtless). I want to go flying but tell myself "hold on, you are in this LD from a WILD so you must be at the beginning of the REM period, you have time to try this cards thing..." I decide to go back to my room. I take the cards and make the test (this part can be found on the thread "A new technique with playing cards ?" on this forum). After seeing the results, I tell myself that I should use the peg technique to remember the results if the dream lasts. I don't know why but I am waking up so I try to spin to stabilize the dream but it's too late. I wake up and am again on my back as if I had dreamt of rolling over. Now that I'm awake, I am way too excited and proud to risk a dream re-entry so I write everything down and here it is :)
Hope you found it interesting.
This thread has a huge potential for motivating beginners so don't hesitate to share your successes here... 😏
This was the kind of food that was on the dining table.
This is how the curtains looked (but they were blown from the outside in)
I don’t think I have a favourite but I like the bizarre ones.
last night I dreamt i was driving down a familiar but altered road in an old mini like I used to have. There was a lake to my right and in the distance I saw a pair of African elephants. I was quite excited and drove on until I saw a large bump running across the road, too high to drive over or so I thought, I noticed it was a bit lower on the right so drove up and then parked. There were more elephants now and when I got close a miniature rhino charged at me, I jumped it easily but then it stood up and it became the singer Henry Rollins who talked to me then charged again, before saying he was going to charge some other people so I could relax! Weird.
So I'll start with my most recent lucid dream, as I was pretty pleased in the progress that I made in it from other lucid dreams that I had during the "lucid lockdown" live-streaming month, as it shows off some cool dream control and me recognizing my lucidity more-so than other LDs I've had. (I've had 7 since the streams began as of now). I was originally going to share my first true lucid dream I achieved after practicing journaling, reality checking, etc. back from 2013, but need to find the journal to do it justice. I've been practicing on-and-off since then, but am now fully diving in again thanks to the streams, so thanks, @The Lucid Guide! I'll come back and post my original one eventually, maybe share some more of the lockdown month dreams, but I'd like to see others' first. Anyway, enjoy the dream!
(I've copied this from my dream journal, but changed some of the personal info like names, and re-wrote some more note-like sentences to make the dream flow better as a narrative.)
April 30th, 2020
I arrived at my grandmother’s house and entered through the back door with my sister and Mother. This door leads into her kitchen / dining room. Her house is a nice comfy mobile home in a retirement park, I’ve visited her there since I was a kid. I was sitting in a dentist chair in the kitchen and my dental hygienist wanted me to eat Oreos as some sort of treatment (not that I was complaining!). She handed me 6 of them, each individually wrapped. I agreed happily and ate them and could vividly taste them. She would check in and have me rinse with and drink water. I got up and wanted to recycle this plastic jug-like container I had drank from. I went to put it under the counter in the cupboard, but the recycle bucket was full and overflowing. I took two bigger plastic jugs, mine and one shaped like a sphere and went to throw them in the outside can. I went to the living room, where the front door is.
On the TV, a series of home videos were playing, featuring myself, my best friend and my sister (dream seed, in waking life my friend had periodically sent me videos he found of us as little kids the days before this dream). These home videos were edited together and had commercial breaks. They were overlaid with edited audio, my voice sounded weird and there were sound effects. Had we made a "movie" as kids and why it was on TV? I found that odd. My sister came in and sat on the couch. I pointed this video out to her. I said something like "remember I was telling you earlier how things you know get morphed together in dreams, and make sense at the time but if you stop and think about it they don't? Like right now? Seems a lot like a dream sign right?" (Dream seed, that same night, was watching TV with my mom and sister before bed. Mom said people had more weird and vivid dreams due to corona. I explained Daniel’s perspective, how most likely what was happening is people are just recalling their dreams better due to sleeping in. My sister talked about her dreams, I talked about my dream signs to her. I told my sister about dream signs and explained lucid dreams for a bit. Back to the dream…).
I pinched my nose, not expecting it to work. I was sure I was awake but figured I’d better try anyway. But it did, I could breathe through my nose. I double checked and tried again, success! I became lucid. I said, “yep, this is a dream. Sister, try it!” I saw her do the nose pinch test and as she did, I remembered from these very Forums that dream characters are not real and are fictional. I was proud of myself for remembering something as specific as that from waking life during a dream, and my lucidity increased. She looked amazed. We went outside, but it was raining so I closed the door and went back in. "Ok, we’ll have to wait- actually, never mind I can control the weather." I said. I went outside into the rain, and went to the empty front driveway. My sister stayed on deck. I felt the raindrops on my skin and a slight wind- it was a light rain, only sprinkling. I turned around and made a joke to her saying "God of Thunder?" with a smile. I think we had watched one of the Thor movies recently so that is probably a dream seed.
I lifted my arms up and floated like 6 to 10 feet in the air. I kind of just didn’t overly think things, I just did the first thing that came to mind in order to control my surroundings, no matter how goofy it was. The rain stopped but it was still cloudy. I mumbled the God of War 3 video game main theme to myself and could kind of actually hear the music play from the dream itself.
I made hand motions like I could control lighting far off in the distance. I saw bolts of lightning appear in the distance. I made more and more lightning bolts spawn, miles away, and the clouds got darker. I did this just to prove to myself that I could control the dream. But I realized I wanted to calm the storm, not intensify it. So I closed my eyes and crossed my legs. I held my arms up like I was meditating and floated down to the ground gently. I focused and kept my eyes closed, sitting in this position and remained calm. I felt the wind pass over me and felt both excited, and at peace. I then knew it had worked. I felt like a Jedi.
(This is the closest image I could find to what it looked like off in the distance as I was controlling the storm).
I opened my eyes and saw the clouds break apart to reveal a bright blue sunny sky. I rubbed my hands on the driveway to solidify the dream and my lucidity, and really felt the texture of pavement vividly. I talked out loud to myself. "Ok Brandon, you’re trying to solidify the dream, and remember your goals and be clear minded. " I said to myself. I thought of the responses to my forum post about Residual Dream Logic and was impressed I could remember something that specific in a dream. I stood up and walked to my sister. I was a bit more clear minded now, but it faded a bit as I talked to her. I asked her if she had watched what I did. She said no, and I was like "Really? No one saw that?" I explained step by step to her how I stopped the storm. My grandmother’s house and the other mobile homes were themed after NFL teams for some reason. My grandmother’s house was “The New England Patriots house”, but nothing visible on the house would tell you this, I just knew. The Patriots are also my favorite team. The Miami Dolphins house was across the street to the left, and it had a flag with a Dolphins logo. Buffalo Bills house was behind my grandma’s. The New York Jets house was 3 down to the right of my grandma’s towards the community mailboxes. Some homes were based off of college teams.
People walked down the road. They were gathering at my grandma’s house to celebrate my recent acceptance into a Doctor of Physical Therapy program (true in real life!) I saw my Dad in the driveway and now people were mingling everywhere. My Dad made a silly face. I saw one of my soon-to-be professors. I went inside and saw one of my other friends and asked him "who are all these people?" Lots of random older or middle aged adults I didn't recognize were there in my grandma’s house. I was now in a suit and lost my lucidity, distracted by all the people. I said "Who are you people?!" Like Patrick from SpongeBob (lol) to see if my friend got the reference. I saw my aunts and uncles and cousins sitting on the couches crammed together. I moved through the crowd of people and waved at them. I looked in my grandma’s room and saw conference tables. The room was like ten times bigger than normal and was totally different. Another kid in a suit was looking for a seat in there for a meeting. I headed that way and woke up.
Hope you enjoyed, can't wait to read about everyone else's dreams!
