I had a quick conversation in Jeff Kerr´s thread but rather than hijacking his thread, I´ll make this!
It's been about two-three weeks of minimal to absolute no dream recall for me as the weather here has been incredibly hot, approaching 32-33 degrees celsius. The weather has been cooling now this past week and I'm starting to get some semblance of my dream recall back!
I've also talked about this to Daniel in tuition sessions.
I've remembered 3 fragments this week and I hope everything get more detailed soon.
Have any of you noticed correlations between your sleep/dreams and hot/cold weather? I'm curious!
In Devon, England the past few weeks it's been terribly warm and humid, which really reduced my dream recall. I did manage a lucid dream once during that time, but I'd had a bit of alcohol the night before and I think my body was just catching up on REM.
That said, the past week, it's been much cooler and I've noticed I'm recalling my dreams more again. So far as I'm aware, heat wreaks havoc with one's dream recall, which appears to be my experience as well. If there's any way that you can cool yourself down, I'd try it, although I appreciate that's rather redundant advice.
In any case, with some luck, once it cools down, you'll get your recall back to normal levels.
First things first: I've moved this thread to the General Chat section -- but I hope you performed a reality test when you noticed!
To answer your question: Yes, absolutely. Really hot weather practically eradicates my dream recall. For me personally, cold weather doesn't seem to have the same effect. Edit: Probably because I sleep infinitely better in cold weather than in hot weather!
Yes, I have! If it is really, really hot, my dream recall tends to go poof. But there are other factors that cause this for me, like a change in the amount of activity and exercise, stress, not sticking to my sleep schedule etc., so I often find it hard to say for certain if the temperature is at fault! Also, I wonder: maybe it's not so much the actual temperature that's at fault, but that it's different from my usual experience?
