During the Club Oneironaut stream on the 30th of July 2021, Daniel Love pitched an... interesting new technique which he has named BRUHILD.
You can watch the stream on "BRUHILD" here:
This technique sounds both silly, fun, and useful to me, and I suspect there will be a lot of great BRUHILD stories to come! So, you know...
Share your experiences, bruhs.
BRUHILD story incoming!
This afternoon I laid down for a afternoon nap as I've been doing recently (being out in the sun makes me really sleepy). I used a sleep aid to help me fall asleep as I was struggling to breach the gap between being sleepy and sleep itself. When I use a sleep aid, I tend to not get any lucids or fake lucids but that's a tradeoff I'm willing to take at times. Anyway, I wake up 30 minutes after starting the aid and notice that I've been asleep for 20 minutes. I decide that I'm still really sleepy and roll back over, waking up a few minutes later and rolling over again, this time going into a solid sleep.
The dream starts with me on my phone and I'm scrolling through YouTube when I notice LDP uploaded a video. I go to his channel and click the videos tab and see that only 3 videos are on there with the last one being uploaded 9 hours ago (I believe this might have been a false awakening dream as my gut is saying that it was weird how he uploaded in the middle of the night). I go to check his community tab to see that the word "community" has been replaced with our favorite word.
I go into a reality check and notice that I'm more than likely dreaming, however, I do the same check a few seconds later because the dream seemed so real. The second check validated the first one (both nose pinch). I has closed my eyes at this point but I struggled to open them for fear that I would wake up if I opened them, but I managed to stay within the dream.
While inside of the dream, I was naturally a bit confused but decided to actually try a few dream goals. Due to the tendency of the trade off, I usually don't pick any dream goals that I want to attempt before going to sleep so I had none come to mind at first or any reframing ideas. Eventually I did figure out a few dream goals that I wanted to attempt but I was already out in the front yard.
Throughout the dream, I tried flying, superspeed, and shape-shifting with only flying somewhat working (I'll call it reduced gravity as I could jump 10 feet into the air and slowly fall down but I couldn't stabilize while in the air). I also tried to change my dream goal to shapeshifting about 3/4ths in and I kept repeating "I am [character name]" to try and drill it into my mind, however, it was fooling none of the dreamlings. It's also interesting to note that I stabilized the dream once by actually closing my eyes and just controlling my breathing when I was getting frustrated, however, the second time this happened, I woke up. During both stabilizing processes, I could feel my real body (which caused me to move the second time and partly woke me up). So yeah, BRUHILD works! It's been a year but I guess playing the long game works?
This was also terrifying about how there was actually a new upload and community post from LDP after I woke up. All my checks indicated I was awake unfortunately. Still creepy!
(Notes for myself)
- eyes still struggle with opening in lucids (fear of waking up if I open them while in the dream)
- dreamlings still can see through my shapeshifting if I'm not confident about it
- stabilized
- reduced gravity was present
- ran to the left side of the yard before going to the right to the end of the driveway before heading left on the road
Well, I usually watch many of the videos on the channel again and again and to do that I usually have to go to the channel home page and well, there is the dreaded word so I see it quite often now!
It also seems to be popping into my mind, sometimes, randomly now too, thanks hahah!
So, I'm sitting across from my friend and I'm talking about lucid dreaming to her. I let out an elongated yawn and she says the infamous word. Luckily, did a RC and, alas, I'm awake. Made me lose the game though. My only BRUHILD experience I might have this week and it partly related to lucid dreaming!
Sigh, and here I thought I wouldn’t hear that for a while…
